I've just gone over your lists, and you girls pick good books !
Why, thankyou, H&B! It's always nice to be complimented on our bookchoices.
I note that your group has read "The Kite Runner". My book club here in Sydney also read and discussed it. I'm sure everyone would agree its a very affecting book (as is the film which I've just seen) I've now suggested we read at sometime this year, Khaled Hosseini's next book, "A Thousand Splendid Suns". I've just finished it (my holiday reading) and feel (like I did with "The Kite Runner") changed by it. I suspect there are just a few individuals in this world of ours - Khaled Hosseini being one of them, Yusef Islam (aka Cat Stevens) being another - who could be what we so desparately need in these troubled times - erudite, articulate and truly compassionate people who can help to meaningfuly bridge the gulf of understanding between the Islamic and Westerm world. Sorry, I didn't mean to go off into such a 'rave' but all this is close to my heart at the moment, having just read this latest Hosseini book !
